Where subbies and the people around them already read, watch and listen, what we tell them, and how every piece of coverage gets used again, so one story turns into installs, trust, links and AI citations.
Trade magazines on the wholesaler counter, Fix Radio on in the van, YouTube and TikTok on the break, Facebook groups at night. Coverage there earns installs and makes the paid ads feel familiar.
AI answers are built from what journalists and third-party sites write about you, not from what you publish about yourself. Each piece of coverage is a citation waiting to happen.
Bookkeepers and accountants set up the software their subbie clients use. Accountancy press and shows are how we reach them without a sales team.
Investors want installs, but credible coverage in the right titles makes the story easier to believe. PR and the fundraise should share a calendar.
Muck Rack's studies of what AI engines cite found press releases made up 0.2% of citations in July 2025 and 1% in December 2025. Earned media was 84% by May 2026, and journalism alone 27%. The releases that did get cited carried twice as many statistics. Profound's analysis of 680 million citations found no press-release wire in any platform's top 10. So the budget goes into stories journalists want and data they can quote, not wire distribution. These studies come from companies that sell PR and search tools, so treat the exact figures as indicative.
Journalists need a reason to write today. Subbies need to hear someone who talks like them. The themes below give both, and every quote still goes through the Claims Register.
Right-to-work checks reach subcontractors on 1 October 2026. About 1.08 million more sole traders (£30k–£50k income) join Making Tax Digital on 6 April 2027, and construction was the biggest single sector in the first group (251,000 of 864,000). Contractors must file nil returns again from April 2026. We explain; we never scare.

Every date-sensitive fact is re-checked on the day of the pitch. The HMRC figures come from HMRC's CIS data 2024–25, the Construction Forum minutes (June 2026) and the MTD population statistics.
Journalists cover data they can't get anywhere else. We checked what HMRC, the Home Office and the government publish, and 49 existing trades surveys from 2025–26, to find the questions nobody has answered. Each study below starts from a real figure and fills a real gap.

Once Solo has enough users (from April 2027 at the earliest), anonymised, aggregated app data can power rankings the way Simply Business ranks earnings by trade and town and FreeAgent ranks late invoices by postcode: days from invoice to statement, share of invoices with materials, by trade and region. It needs minimum group sizes, and a check that the privacy notice covers it.

Luke's contact is the fastest route to scale. The reach is real but lopsided: most of it is Facebook, and its YouTube and podcast have stalled (the newest videos are about a year old and the podcast stopped in 2022). So we buy Facebook and TikTok content from them, not podcast spots, and co-brand the State of the Subbie survey with them for distribution and credibility. They sell campaigns through a business contact form; no prices are published.
Bricklayers, plasterers, scaffolders and groundworkers are the trades most likely to be paid under CIS, so they're ranked above domestic plumbers and electricians. Each creator gets a flat fee plus a payment per activated user, tracked through their own Singular link.
